According to students, Aviraj Chaudhary, a fourth-year BTech student from Nepal, was allegedly attacked by another student identified as Aayush Tiwari, a second-year student, inside Gavaskar Boys Hostel on the university campus.
Students claim the incident occurred when Aviraj entered Room No. 220 of the hostel. They allege that he was suddenly attacked from behind with a wooden cricket bat, resulting in a serious head injury. Witnesses and fellow students have described the assault as severe and claim that the attacker intended to cause serious harm.
Following the incident, hostel officials and university staff reportedly arrived at the scene. Students allege that although university authorities initially stated that senior officials would be informed, local police were called instead.
Questions have since been raised by some students regarding the sequence of actions taken after the incident. According to those present, Aviraj was not immediately taken to a hospital despite suffering a head injury. They further claim that he remained with police personnel for an extended period before receiving medical treatment.
Several Nepali students have also alleged that Aviraj was asked to sign a written statement indicating that he did not wish to pursue a police case. Students claim he requested the presence of his friends before signing any document but that his request was not immediately accommodated.
According to student representatives, fellow Nepali students eventually arranged medical treatment for the injured student and ensured he received hospital care.
The incident quickly sparked anger among Nepali students studying at Quantum University. A group of students launched a protest demanding justice at the midnight in the ground, proper medical support, and a transparent investigation into the attack and its aftermath.
Following the protests, police reportedly returned to the campus and detained the accused student for questioning.
Sources close to the injured student say that Aviraj has filed a complaint under charges related to attempted murder. However, authorities have not yet publicly confirmed the specific legal sections under which the case has been registered.
A meeting involving university officials and student representatives was scheduled to take place on campus to discuss the incident and determine further action.
As of the time of publication, Quantum University and local police authorities had not released a detailed official statement regarding the allegations made by students.
