30 April Kathmandu Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal made a phone call to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and requested to release nine Nepali nationals who are currently prisoners of war (POWs) on humanitarian ground.
The high level discussion is a sign of Nepal’s growing concern on safety and wellbeing of its citizens affected by international conflicts.
🇳🇵 Nepal Humanitarian Appeal
During the conversation, Foreign Minister Khanal strongly appealed for the release of the Nepali nationals citing humanitarian values and international norms.
He pointed out:
• The obligation to protect civilians and foreign nationals in armed conflicts
• Nepal’s safety of its nationals concern
• The necessity for humanitarianism in such cases;
